February 6th 2020 marks the 62nd anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster in which 23 people, including 8 Manchester United players, died. The aircraft carrying players and club staff plus a number of journalists, supporters and flight crew, crashed on take off from Munich airport. Elaine Giles and Mike Thomas from Munich58 organise the annual remembrance events at Old Trafford in partnership with Manchester United. The first event is on Saturday 1st February at 3:30pm, prior to the home match against Wolves and the second one takes place on February 6th, starting at 2:40pm. Both events will be MC'd by former United Club Chaplain Rev. John Boyers and will be a mixture of poems, songs and prayers. Whether you support United, another team or just want to pay your respects, all are welcome to attend. The events, which are free to attend, take place outside the stadium, under The Munich Plaque. There is no need to book. There are no tickets. Simply visit Old Trafford and make your way to the Munich Plaque at the East Stand end of the stadium.
