There is a wall-mounted memorial cabinet at the Quadrant Pub in Stretford. The pub is situated about 10 minutes walk from Old Trafford and is popular with fans on a match day.
50th Anniversary Commemorations in Munich
A group of United supporters went to Munich in February 2008 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the crash.
Fans Remember
It has become a tradition for fans to visit Old Trafford on Feb 6th each year to pay their respects to those who perished in the crash. People come and go all day, trying to fit in with their other work and personal commitments. Some leave flowers and poems, some just stand silently, alone with their own thoughts.
The Memorials at Munich Airport
There is a field cross-memorial in the village of Kirchtrudering (where the crash occured), It is at the corner of Karotschstraße and Emplstraße.
The Original Munich Plaque
‘The classic terrace tribute to the Busby Babes starts: “There is a plaque at Man United, it’s underneath the old Main Stand, It bears the name of Duncan Edwards, he was the finest in the land…”, and in the previous four volumes of Great United Songs, there has been, by way of further information, this: ‘this refers to the original Munich plaque, which is now hidden and part of Old Trafford’s brick work within the Main – South – Stand”.
The New Munich Plaque
A plaque in memory of those who died was erected at Old Trafford on 25th February 1960. The plaque was paid for by the club and unveiled by Matt Busby.
The Munich Clock
A clock in memory of those who died was erected at Old Trafford on 25th February 1960. The Ground Committee paid for the clock, which was unveiled by Dan Marsden, Chairman of the Ground Committee.
The Memorial in Duckinfield
In St Luke’s Church, Dukinfield, Cheshire is an illuminated parchment, framed and standing on a side table. It names the dead and the survivors of the Air Disaster at Munich on 6th February 1958.
